Wow, what a turnout for Monster-Mania 47 Hunt Valley, MD. 80

Last year, all conventions were canceled, and the year before 2019, I missed MMC because tickets sold out for Saturday.

So it was great to be back finally.

Monster-Mania 47 in Hunt Valley 2021 was an absolute monster bash that exceeded all expectations.

Attendees are left with a thrilling experience and memories that will linger like ghostly apparitions.

I was immersed in horror, fantasy, and spine-chilling excitement when I stepped into the convention.

The celebrity guest lineup was a horror enthusiast’s dream come true. Iconic figures from classic and contemporary horror graced the event, offering fans the chance to meet their favorite monsters up close and personal.

The autograph sessions were flawlessly organized, and the stars were accommodating and genuinely excited to connect with their fans.

I’ve been going to Monster Mania in Hunt Valley since 2012.

Monster-Mania 47 Review

Who Started Monster-Mania Con?

During a car ride to South Jersey, Dave Hagan and his son created an idea for a convention and built on it throughout the ride. By the end of the ride, the two had devised the main structure for Monster-Mania.

Monster-Mania was later founded in 1999 by Dave Hagan through Dave Hagan Enterprises, dedicated to the memory of Dave Hagan’s father, who introduced him to horror movies. Its first convention was held in late 2003 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

The lineup included Doug Bradley (who would become a regular for Monster-Mania Con), Caroline Munro, Ben Chapman, and Veronica Carlson, amongst many others.

My Experience At Monster-Mania 47 Hunt Valley 2021

This is the first year I attended MMC without my wife or son, and I must tell you, it was not as good not to have someone with me. So what did I do? I talked with vendors to occupy myself until the first Q&A segment began.

The heart of the convention was undoubtedly the Monster Marketplace. This eerie bazaar featured various vendors selling everything from vintage horror memorabilia to handcrafted monster art.

I couldn’t resist picking up a one-of-a-kind creature creation that now proudly sits among my prized possessions.

One of my favorite vendors was a guy named Chris Rowan. Chris bought Buffalo Bill’s home from The Silence of The Lambs in Perryopolis, PA, near Pittsburgh.

Please check out Buffalo Bill’s House and spend the weekend there! There is a room in the house’s basement with a mirror. Rumor has it you can be like Buffalo Bill and do your own tuck.

Q&A Segment: Monster-Mania Hunt Valley 2021

The main reason I attend MMC is for the Questions and Answers segment. I fell in love with the Q&A segment when I heard Gunnar Hansen talk about making The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and later that day, John Kassir, the voice of the Cryptkeeper, talked about making movies and shows.

In 2012, the Q&A room was lucky to have 25 people in attendance.

This Year, I listened to Grant Kramer and Suzanne Snyder discuss Killer Klowns From Outer Space and other movies they made.

Next was Alex Winter from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and The Lost Boys. Next, I listened to Joe Bob Briggs from Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater and Monstervision. I remembered him from the 90s but hadn’t watched anything with him in it recently.

During the Q&A, I sat in the back row next to the wall. During Joe Bob’s Q&A, a sexy, large-breasted goth girl sat beside me, wearing a mask so I couldn’t see her face.

During the Q&A, Joe Bob talked about his recent show, The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, and the sexy goth girl next to me kept laughing, and she was really into what he was saying.

Halfway through the segment, she gets up and stands next to the wall. Joe Bob recognizes her, and it is his co-host, Darcy, The Mail Girl.

Finally, the segment I had been waiting for arrived—Amy Steel and Adrienne King. I have been a die-hard F13th fan since the early 1980s, and I even wrote an article about the 1980s as the era of horror movies.

So there I am, early, sitting in my seat. The Amy Steel—Adrienne King Q&A segment was to begin at 6 p.m. Well, here it is 6:10, and there is no Amy Steel or Adrienne King. Then 6:15, 6:25, and then 6:30, they arrived.

I was so disappointed because that only gave me a half-hour of listening time. I enjoyed hearing about the making of the F13th part 2 because that is my second favorite movie in the franchise. However, I was about to be disappointed for a second time.

The F13th segment was cut short at 6:50 so the Nightmare on Elm Street Segment could begin. I was bummed!

After that, I left MMC 2021 and went home.

What Monster Con in Hunt Valley Needs

I’ve been going to Monster-Mania Con in Hunt Valley since 2012. The first three years I went, the con wasn’t crowded, but the last few cons were packed. Since I don’t want the Maryland Con to move to another hotel, I thought vendors could set up outside the hotel under the awnings.

That way, the inside isn’t so stuffed with people—just an Idea.

All in all, MMC is a great time for horror movie enthusiasts. Monster-Mania 47 in Hunt Valley 2021 was enjoyable.

The organizers truly outdid themselves in curating a diverse and captivating program. Panels, screenings, and Q&A sessions added depth to the event, allowing fans to delve into the behind-the-scenes magic of their favorite horror films.

Monster-Mania 47 in Hunt Valley 2021 was a monstrous success, seamlessly blending scares, entertainment, and a sense of community for horror fans.

As the event concluded, I left with a bag of creepy treasures, a camera full of spine-chilling memories, and a lingering excitement for the monsters that await at the next Monster-Mania extravaganza!?‍♂️??

Dave Announced the third Monster-Mania con. This one is at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. I already checked out the venue online, and it looks enormous. Secondly, the stars that will be there are amazing. I’m debating whether or not to go.

I am only debating because I will spend a fortune on autographs there.
