Modern Qigong Review

About Lee Holden

Let’s talk about the man behind the magic. Lee Holden isn’t just another self-proclaimed guru trying to sell you snake oil. This guy’s the real deal. He’s an internationally renowned expert who has brought this ancient practice to the Western world.

Lee’s journey didn’t start in some mystical temple in the mountains. It began on a soccer field at UC Berkeley. An injury that conventional treatments couldn’t fix led him to discover the power of this ancient practice.

And guess what? It worked. Not only did he recover, but it sparked a lifelong passion that’s benefited millions.

Lee’s not just talking the talk. He’s walked the walk, studying with masters like Grand Master Mantak Chia and earning his stripes as a qualified doctor in Chinese medicine.

He’s even become a household name on US and Canadian television, proving that this isn’t some fringe practice – it’s hitting the mainstream, and for good reason. (1)

What is Modern Qigong?

Modern Qigong refers to contemporary interpretations and adaptations of traditional Chinese practices.

An ancient Chinese system that integrates physical postures, breath control, meditation, and focused intent to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.”

It builds upon these ancient principles but often incorporates contemporary insights, scientific understanding, and lifestyle considerations.

  1. While traditional forms can be intricate and specific, Modern Qigong often simplifies movements to make the practice more accessible to a wider audience.

  2. Modern teachings may emphasize integration with modern daily life, making it practical for individuals with busy schedules. This could involve shorter practice sessions or exercises that can be easily incorporated into daily routines.

  3. Some modern instructors may draw on scientific research to explain the potential health benefits of practices. This can include stress reduction, improved flexibility, enhanced immune function, and other positive effects on well-being.

  4. With the advent of online platforms, modern Qigong teachings may be delivered through digital courses, apps, or videos, allowing individuals to learn and practice from the comfort of their homes.

  5. It may be adapted for specific health goals, such as stress reduction, pain management, or overall vitality. Instructors might tailor practices to address modern health concerns.

Does Qigong healing work?

The effectiveness of healing is a subject of ongoing research and debate. Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice that involves coordinated body movements, breath control, and meditation to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.”

Some studies suggest that practices may have potential health benefits, such as reducing stress, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall well-being.

Additionally, there is some evidence indicating that it may be beneficial for specific medical conditions, including chronic pain, hypertension, and anxiety.

Additionally, individual responses can vary, and they are often considered a complementary approach rather than a replacement for conventional medical treatments.

They can provide guidance based on your individual needs and conditions.

Let’s talk results. What benefits can you expect from dedicating 30 days to this practice?

Physical health improvements are just the tip of the iceberg. We’re talking about increased energy, better sleep, improved digestion, and even pain relief. But it doesn’t stop there.

Mental clarity and emotional balance are major benefits. In a world that constantly tries to distract and stress you out, imagine having a tool to clear your mind and stay centered. This course offers that.

Increased energy and vitality are game-changers. Forget relying on caffeine or energy drinks. You’re tapping into your body’s natural energy systems, giving you sustainable vitality throughout the day.

On the plus side, Lee’s expertise and teaching style are major assets. He has a way of making complex concepts accessible and engaging. The comprehensive nature of the course is also a big win – you’re getting a well-rounded education in this practice.

The flexibility of the course is another strong point. You can do it at your own pace, fitting it into your busy schedule. And the fact that it’s suitable for all levels means you can jump in no matter where you’re starting from.

On the flip side, some might find the 30-day commitment challenging. It requires consistency and dedication. And while the course is designed to be accessible, some of the concepts might be new and take time to fully grasp.

Another potential drawback is that some of the movements might not be suitable for everyone. As with any physical practice, it’s important to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Lee Holden Breathing Tips

Your mind is a reflection of your breath, and your breath is a reflection of your mind.

These are general guidelines on breathing and thinking about your breathing during Qi Gong: You’ll generally want to breathe through the nose. This helps calm your nervous system down.

● Take slow, deep, full breaths. Try to connect the movement to your breath.
● Breathe in and out through the nose when you want to cultivate or keep the energy contained.
● Breathe through the nose and out through the mouth when you want to release energy.

Lee will encourage you to exhale out through the mouth during some exercises. This is explicitly done when releasing “old or stagnant energy.” These are called ‘purging” practices. Purging is a term for releasing.

When you are “gathering” or “tonifying,” the breath is in through the nose and out through the nose.

For example, in the “shaking exercise,” you release tension and stress from your body by breathing in through your nose and exhaling out through your mouth to release the energy connected to anxiety and stress.

When you move into the flow portion of your practice, you begin cultivating the energy and emotional state you want for the rest of your day. Then you’d breathe in and out through your nose to contain that positive energy and not release it.

These aren’t complex rules. They’re more like guidelines. If you have a condition that makes it difficult to breathe a certain way, do whatever is most comfortable for you. The same goes for physical limitations.

You will hear Lee say, “No pain, no pain.” Qi Gong isn’t a practice where you must correct movement and form. If you cannot do an activity, modify it to fit your body or visualize yourself doing it.

Students have recovered from surgery and visualize themselves practicing Qi Gong in their hospital beds. Their doctors are stunned by how quickly they heal.
